Too massive and complex to be explored or appreciated in a single day, Snowmass demands repeat visits or a long vacation! And who wouldn't want to revisit over 3,000 acres of cruisers, steeps, terrain parks and halfpipes. Offering the ultimate Aspen vacation activities, this Rocky Mountain massif boasts a vertical drop of 4,406 feet, 23 lifts and 90 trails ideal for snowboarding, hiking, horseback riding and so much more. Lift hours: The Sky Cab opens at 8 a.m.; the Cirque lift opens at 10 a.m.; the Village Express and Big Burn lifts open at 8:30 a.m.; all other lifts open at 9 a.m. Most lifts close at 4:00 p.m., weather permitting.
On-Mountain Restaurants: 10 total: Sneaky's Tavern, Sam's Smokehouse, Up 4 Pizza, Two Creeks Cafe, Lynn Britt Cabin (lunches and snowcat dinner rides), Burlingame Cabin (snowcat dinner rides, Ullrhof, Gwyn's High Alpine and Cafe Suzanne. Don't miss the lunch and après ski opportunities at Brothers' Grille and the Conservatory, slopeside in the Silvertree Hotel.

Best-kept secret: The daily "Noon Groom,” a freshly groomed run that reopens at noon. Also, sit-down breakfast at Gwyn's High Alpine can't be beat.
